Today, June 20, 2011 the Supreme Court ruled to dismiss the Walmart Class Action.

Huge Victory for Walmart today as the Supreme Court Rules unanimously in favor to block the largest class action in the United States - 1.5 Million Plaintiffs. This reverses the decision by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals of San Francisco

The Supreme Court announced that the case was just too large to continue

The Lawsuit though in its current form will not continue, the plaintiffs apparently still have the opportunity of reconfiguring their lawsuits into smaller groups of class actions and proceed with their Discrimination Lawsuits.

The Supreme Curt did not make a decision as if to Walmart had or had not discriminated against the 1.5 Million Plaintiffs. Their decision was based upon the structure of the lawsuit, and that it was too large to continue; and Walmart faced potential of Billions of Dollars in damages, and with that much money at stake Walmart may have had felt tremendous pressure to settle or even had the potential for damaging the company permanently.

The Plaintiffs will have to find different ways to proceed with their Lawsuits which will allow for less financial distress to Walmart.

The complete majority opinion is here: http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/10pdf/10-277.pdf

Stay tuned as we will provide more information as it becomes available.
